Sharing a layout - "Remember ICU"

This morning, I'm sharing a layout that I made recently about my daughter's rather harrowing experience in the ICU last summer after a trip to Oregon resulted in multiple asthma attacks. It was a super scary experience, so I needed some time away from the situation before I could scrapbook about it. Of course, I can only tell this story from my perspective, but I thought it was important to document. At some point, Kelsey might be interested in telling the story herself, but I have this page if she never does choose to do so.

Sorry for the slightly crooked pic here, but you can see the title block and how I created it with the tag and flair and multiple labels and letter stickers. I thought those map printed letter stickers were perfect because Kelsey was traveling in Oregon when all of this happened.

Here's a closeup of the journaling if you'd like to read it.

Check out the embellishment cluster I created at the top right hand side of the page.

All of these pics are ones that Kelsey or Jake took while she was in the hospital. I have to say that I felt better when I could see her without all the tubes attached to her. Think about the generational difference in these pics though -> I can't imagine ever taking a photo of myself in the hospital at her age. I would have been too embarrassed and self-conscious. For her, she knew I needed to see her, and she's grown up in a digital age where we photograph everything.

In this shot, you can see the lower half of the layout.

And the upper portion of the layout...

And the layout in its entirety one more time. I'm really happy with the way this one turned out; I am glad that I could include three full-sized photos along with some significant journaling and some fun embellishments. Here, I told an important story in a visually interesting way - that's def a win!

Are there any hospital stories you want to tell? What's stopping you from doing so?

  4. Y'all, I'm a nut - you're right, it should say 2015. What can I say, I guess I live in the future! Hahaha! Now, I'll have to decide whether I just write over the 6 with a 5 or whether I'll need to replace that little label. Oh well, I'm not going to stress about it too much. Thanks for giving me a heads up though! Y'all pay very close attention...note to self. ;)
