June Planner Pages In Progress

I thought y'all might like to see my June planner pages in progress. I will not finish them while I'm in Paris, but I feel pretty good about the start I've made. Besides what I'm showing you here, I've also been adhering strips of paper and making notes for the month of May. This travel planner will cover May, June, and July so I can address the planning phase, my trip itself, and the 'recovery' from my trip.

It's definitely still a work in progress, but I'm very glad that I brought my planner and supplies to work on during the evenings I choose to come back to my apartment early. I'll keep working on it and share an update in a couple of weeks. :)

Here's a layout I made Saturday about the annual trip we make to Jackson's Orchard. I really like these pics of Kelsey and me, so that made this a fun layout for me to make.

Sharing a layout - Summer is Calling

Here's a quick look at a layout I made last week...

I started with a white textured cardstock background which is something I rarely do. Idk why it looks blue in this pic - grr! This pic focuses on the title block that I arranged in the top left corner. I layered strips of paper, a PL style cut-apart card and some other embellishments to create a cohesive space.

Here's the same section but a little bit lower on the page.

At the bottom of the page I arranged strips of paper horizontally to provide a bit of interest on the page and to pick up on the patterns and colors I'd introduced in my title block. I also added an embellishment sticker to some of the white space in the photo on the right.

Here's a look at the finished layout. I'm thrilled that I managed to fit three almost full size pics on a single layout. Winning! Notice that I don't have any journaling on this page. It's because I don't know the story of the day. Really, I just liked the pics and wanted to play with some fun product. It's Kelsey's story, not mine. I could have called and gotten her information about the evening and recorded it here for her, but that really wasn't the purpose of this page. Sometimes, I just like to make a page with pretty stuff and not have a big story to tell. And that's okay.

Were you crafty this weekend? I wasn't, and I can already tell that I'm missing it. Looks like I'll have to try to find a way to fit in some crafty time at some point this week before I leave for Mexico. I know; I know it's hard to feel sorry for me. Haha! Peace out!

Sharing a layout - You Are Here

Today, I thought I'd share a quick layout with you that I made over the weekend. I found an old snapshot of me and my friends on a school trip to the University of Kentucky back in the '80s. Since I don't remember much about the actual photo, I didn't have a lot to say. I def didn't want to lose the pic, so I decided I'd make a layout about it just for fun.

I started with cardstock which is rare for me these days. I layered on some older patterned paper that I had that kind of has a travel theme; I liked the rather retro looking bus embellishment for example. I also thought the cassette tapes patterned paper was a great match since those were the days of the mix tape, after all. :)

Here's a closeup of my quick and simple journaling.

And here's the layout in its entirety.  I mixed older products with new ones and still maintained the vintage vibe of the layout. Hope you like it!

Mojo Monday - Sharing a layout "WKU"

Here's one of the layouts I made this weekend. After not feeling any mojo for quite a while, I decided to just go in my studio space and play around a little bit. No pressure. No expectations. Keep it simple. And I managed to do just that. I made three layouts this weekend, and I'm feeling pretty good about that. While they certainly don't involve any cutting edge techniques or anything, at least I got in there and actually made something for a change.

Check out the way I incorporated a PL style card as an embellishment. That's really my favorite thing about this layout; I used a total of four PL style cards on it. Since I have about one million of them (hyperbole), I'd better use at least four on every layout if I'm ever going to make a dent. Haha!

Finally, here's the finished layout in its entirety.  I used a mix of old and new products on this page and feel pretty good about that. I also tried to get my washi on; hopefully, that makes it still feel fresh. Hope you enjoyed taking a look!

Mojo Monday - painted Christmas decor

A couple of weeks ago, my friend Lorie and I had a bit of a painting party. It was freezing outside, so I covered the floor of my living room with some kraft paper, and we got to work there. Here's a view of our work in progress.

The most important part of this picture is the empty bottle of wine in the middle of the floor. Crafting is hard work; wine makes it better. Then again, I think wine makes everything better. ;)

Lorie and her husband are having an addition put on their house, so she's been saving the scrap wood from the project for a couple of months. Her husband was sweet enough to cut the wood in manageable lengths and shapes for us. Thanks Junior!

Here are a couple of my snowmen in progress in the foreground and some of Lorie's snowmen in the background. She worked with the Annie Sloan chalk paint and some of the wax, but I took a lazier approach and just worked with regular paint.

The dogs stayed out of the way mostly, but you can see Charlie-dog walking around and checking out our progress here.

Aren't Lorie's snowmen sweet? She's going to add fabric or knitted hats and scarves to each of them and display them as a group I think.

I also wanted to work on a series of trees. Using some stencils that I had lying around, I made four painted trees in pink and aqua with silver glitter accents. I think they'll look great with some pastel snowmen that I've purchased.

Here's a closeup of my snowpeople. I think I'll display them with their sides against the fireplace so it looks like they're leaning up against it. I like that they are primitive and sweet.

I have several chunky, thick trees that I want to work with soon. I'm thinking of covering them with this texturizing stuff that Lorie has and then glittering them heavily, but I'm not sure. Looks like I need to get started on it soon since it's already December. :0

 Finally, here's a painted sign that Lorie worked on during our crafty days. I think it looks great. She plans to add a hanger and a large bow at the top. She used some of my stencils to get the letters just right. I think I want to make a sign like that too. Yeah, I need to get busy.

Mojo Monday - sharing crafty purchases & a 2005 Christmas planner

I bought some yummy crafty goodies at Michael's the other day and thought I'd share them here. I can't wait to get a chance to play with this stuff.

I also thought I'd share my Christmas planner from 2005 with you. In the podcast we did about December Daily, I mistakenly said this was a DD from 2007, but I think it was more of a planner style approach. I still really like it, even though it's actually unfinished. Sensing a theme here? Lol. Tracie told me she thought it was a class that Kim Hanauer taught at Scrap It years ago; I don't recall specifically, but that sounds about right. I don't think I would've come up with something this cute on my own at that time. Haha! Hope you enjoy taking a peak. :)

I can remember carrying this little album around in my purse for Christmas and making additions to the various lists in it. Notice that there aren't any pictures in the whole thing; this was designed more as a planner and organizer than a way to document specific memories. I'm still glad I have it because it gives me a glimpse back at my life almost ten years ago. Peace out, peeps!
