Thanksgiving Throwback Thursday

Kelsey came by the house this weekend as she often does, looking for a snack and visiting with me for a few minutes. I burst out laughing when I realized what she was wearing.

That, my friends, is a cross stitched Thanksgiving jumper that I made for her when she was in first grade. That's right; she's 23 1/2 and wearing something I made when she was 6. The contrast between the holiday stitching and Kelsey's tattoos cracks me up too for some reason. If you look at the closeup, I'd say the stitching has held up pretty well all these years.

First of all, I'm way impressed that she can fit into it. Granted, it was a loose dress back in the day, but still. Now, it's basically a tank top. I guess it's a good thing that the material is stretchy and she's so tiny these days.

Just wanted to share something funny with you that also made me incredibly happy. She remembers that I also made her one for that Halloween and one with a school bus on it for the first day of school. Kelsey tells me she won't rest until she locates those. She obviously appreciates my handiwork now, even if it didn't seem to matter much to her at the time.  Maybe I should make that girl something else cross-stitched in her real size for Christmas. Hmm...

  1. This really gave me a great smile to start my day! Isn't it wonderful when we realize that our kids really do appreciate the things we do? Very sweet - I hope she's able to find the two others.

  2. Ha. Thanks for making me look like a nut job. Laughing out loud while eating breakfast alone in a restaurant. Business trip. I'm pretty sure the only thing I wore at six I could still get anywhere on my body would be that creepy Halloween mask I posted for TBT a few weeks ago. Thanks for sharing. Great way to start the day.
