Scraplift Challenge 2 of 4 - lifting Lisa Dickinson

I was on a roll scraplifting and didn't want to stop! I was beginning to feel my mojo and decided to charge forward with another layout. This time around, I thought I'd start with the design. I scrolled through my inspiration board on Pinterest and found this great layout by Lisa Dickinson. You can visit her blog here;: Lisa Dickinson's blog. I'm new to her blog but am enjoying reading it a lot. :)

Here's Lisa's great layout:

I knew I had some 3 x 4 pics recently printed from Snapfish, so I looked through that stack and found some of my daughter and her boyfriend on the trip they took out west last summer. Here's my lift:

Although Lisa chose plain cardstock for her background, I went with a paper that had a subtle dot pattern to it. My colors are really different too, but otherwise the design of the layout is pretty much a copy.  I had fun adding little embellishments throughout the layout, but I tried to stick to a basic triangle pattern to create unity.

I really liked the movement on Lisa's original layout, so I tried to mimic that by using the overlay in a tilted way and by tilting my embellishment in the bottom right corner.  These chipboard letter stickers were the perfect color blue, so I used those instead of the title treatment that Lisa chose. I like hers better, but I was trying to use what I had. I wish my journaling were more profound, but I didn't take the trip. That limitation meant that I didn't have that much to say. At least it gives the basics, and I do like these pics of Kelsey and her boyfriend, Jake.

One of my favorite things about scraplifting is that simply choosing different colors and theme of pics can totally change the feel of a layout. Even though my design is pretty much a copy of Lisa's, I think it feels totally different because of color. I liked using the PL cards on my layout too; I have so many that I feel like I'll never use them all. I purposefully didn't round the corners on my photos, mainly because my corner rounder broke a couple of days ago (horror!) but also because I liked the contrast between the photos and the embellishment pieces.

Here are the layouts once again - Lisa's original first and then mine.

Thanks for visiting my blog! I hope you'll check back tomorrow for challenge #3. :)

  2. I am lifting this one too! I love it. I am going to have to start following more blogs for inspiration! This one makes me want to whip out the supplies right now! I like how sunny the yellow makes everything feel. I don't think every layout needs profound journaling. Just getting that day scrapped helps preserve the memory. I have so many photos that I look at and think, "when was that again"? or "who was there"? Just getting some details down and having the event scrapped is important. I can't believe how little I remember anymore! It is frightening how fast they days go by and you will think you will remember something, but then you don't. I am so happy sometimes just to get it down on paper and not have it sitting on my computer or in my box of photos waiting to be scrapped. Can't wait to see what you do for challenge #3.

    1. Hi Katie! I feel the exact same way and don't always have some dramatic view of life to share on a layout either. And you're right, even little bits of info will be helpful to have in the future. I'm thrilled you're visiting my blog & hope you find some inspiration when you do. :)
