Week in the Life - day 5 photography

Every morning after I get out of the shower, I get in bed to gt warm. It doesn't matter if it's 100 degrees outside or 1 degree, I get cold after my shower and have to warm up before I can get dressed. and no, I'm not loving this no-makeup, hair in a towel selfie, but I AM trying to be authentic.

Today, I'm wearing a cute new, navy tshirt with lace sleeves, a red tank top, and white linen pants. We were asked to wear red, white, and blue to school today to support BG East, the local U12 baseball team that is playing in the Little League World Series tomorrow.

Daily obligatory car selfie on the way to work - no, my hair wasn't totally dry yet, but that's life.

Here, my sophomore kiddos are reading a science fiction story with an audio cd. I stepped to the back of the classroom to protect their identities and to check that they were doing the right thing instead of playing on their phones or something.  Most of them were being good. :)

I met the fella for lunch today, the first time I've done tht since school strted this year. We went to Jersey Mike's which is only about 3 minutes from my work. The fella loves a sandwich. Unfortunately, I didn't really like what I got. I did enjoy getting away from school for about an hour and having some adult convo though. Hopefully, we'll be able to do this every couple of weeks or so. He's always a good sport about letting me take his picture + he's not nearly as picky about it as I am.

I like this selfie of us too, even if I only got like half of my face in it.

Back at school before my planning period was over, I tried a few selfies at my desk. These angles and my expressions are hilarious if nothing else.

While the majority of my day was great, the very end of it wasn't good at all. If I could just stay in my own room and teach my own kids and not deal with anyone/anything else, that would be perfect. I guess most people feel that way about their jobs at least some of the time, so I'm no different in that regard. I didn't take anymore pictures until I got home for the evening because I just wasn't in the mood. That's real life too, right?

Once I got home, I did what I always do on an evening when I'm staying at home: I put on my pajamas. Tonight I'm sporting weiner dog Christmas pajama pants, my red tank top from today, my black slippers, and my black, bleach stained short robe. I'm looking sexy for reals. Hahaha!

I talked to several of my friends on the phone; I washed a load of laundry; I read for a while; I watched the news - you know just the normal stuff of a quiet evening at home.

Around 6:00 pm, I decided I needed a snack and settled on a bowl of Apple Jacks. Probably not the most adult option available to me, but I thought it was a better choice than ice cream or a bottle of wine.

From the minute I get home, Lowder-dog expects to sit in my lap. He doesn't want me to move, to make noise, to get up, to read, to get on the computer, or anything. All he wants is to be held. It's adorable and ridiculously annoying at the same time. I mean, I can't get anything done while he's snoozing in my lap. Still, he's a little old man, so I do try to treasure this time while I can.

The rest of the evening was uneventful. I watched some Helix. I surfed the internet. I read my book. I talked to a few more of my friends. I worked on a new lesson I'm doing with a couple of my classes tomorrow - trying something different.  Unfortunately, I did not get crafty or do anything really productive around the house.  Also unfortunately, there really wasn't much else for me to photograph. I did fill out my guided journaling pages and update my blog though. That's a win! :)

I have to admit that I'm sort of glad that the week is more than halfway finished. Being on constant alert to take pictures is a challenge that has stressed me out a little bit. Plus, trying to take photos that  are well-lit and capture my daily life and could be sort of interesting is a lot of pressure when each day feels a lot like the last one. I'm sure that I'm not alone in this. Oh well, maybe I'll take my very favorite photo of the week tomorrow. I'm an eternal optimist on the inside, you know...

Peace out!
