Sharing a layout - Plaka and Paris

Here are a couple of other travel layouts that I made in the past and haven't shared on my blog. Maybe they'll give you some ideas...

This first layout is about a trip to Plaka, Greece that I made with students in June 2010. It's a simple one page spread that plays on the technique of lining up several similar style embellishments to create a border.

Here's a closeup of the embellishment strip...sorry the colors are a bit 'off' in this shot

And here's a closeup of the title treatment.

A bit of a closer look at the journaling - as you can see, it's really just the bare minimum. I didn't have a lot to say other than the basics of who, what, and where.

This is a 2 page layout about Paris. While I think the pics are from 2008, that really doesn't matter since they focus on architectural/historical elements of Paris rather than the people visiting. I sort of saw this layout as a title page to my section of pages on Paris, an introduction to the city of sorts. This is the right side of the layout.

Here's a closeup shot of the title treatment...I do love travel themed embellishments & I never met a sticker I didn't like. ;)

This is the left side of the layout.
I put the title treatment on the right side of the page because it fit better and because I wanted to draw the viewer's eye to the following pages that will also be about Paris. Hope that makes sense.

Both of these layouts are relatively plain, but the Paris one is particularly simplistic. I really wanted the pics to shine. For that reason, I started with a khaki cardstock and trimmed it in elements of black cardstock. The title treatment with the blue really picks up on the color of the sky in the pictures. While it's super simple, this is one of my fave travel layouts.

I can't wait to start working with my pictures from my most recent trip to Europe. It's so exciting to have fun new photographs waiting to be scrapbooked!
