Train trip to Delmonaco Winery

Last weekend, the fella and I enjoyed quite a bit of couple time together. Besides cheering on our Purples on Friday night, we spent the day Saturday taking a train trip from Nashville to the Delmonaco Winery near Cookeville, TN. We had taken a train trip before, but this one was quite a bit lengthier.

We left the Tennessee Central Railway station at 8:30 after boarding at 8:00 and enjoyed a roughly 3 1/2 hour train trip to our destination. Along the way, we sampled a dozen - yes, a dozen - different wines that Delmonaco Winery offers. I'd never had wine to drink at 9:30 in the morning, but I decided to just roll with it. Haha!

Once we arrived at the winery, we grabbed a quick lunch of barbecue, cole slaw, and beans before checking out some of the arts/crafts booths that were set up around the building. We went on a brief introductory tour of the winery itself, and then we wandered about in the vineyard. Granted, November is not the best time to be hanging out in a vineyard. I'm sure it's incredibly beautiful in the spring/summer.

I bought a bottle of their Riesling, which is unusual for me since I don't usually like white wine. The taste test convinced me since it was fruity and crisp and bright-tasting. It's in my fridge chilling right now, and I anticipate I will indulge in that bottle one night this week. Thankfully, the fella doesn't drink much, so I'll get to enjoy the entire bottle to myself. If I want. And I might. Don't judge me. Really, that's only 3 1/2 glasses. Big glasses. But still.

If you like wineries or train trips or both, then I think this would be an awesome trip to take with girlfriends or your significant other. The fella treated me to this trip as part of my birthday back in October, so it also gave me something to look forward to since then.

  1. That skinny bottle? No sharing. No judgement. Watch it though. It's that 1/2 glass that will get you every time.

  2. What a great trip! And don't worry, a bottle of wine isn't nearly as big as many people think:)
