Throwback Thursday - "When I was 12"

The colors are a bit off in these pics, but I wanted to share this layout with you anyway. Here's a page I made circa 2005 about myself when I was 12 years old. Check out the color-blocking and typed journaling a la Cathy Zielske. :)

Close-up of the journaling for those of y'all who like to read my deepest thoughts...

I've never been a fan of titles, and I remember struggling over this one. I'm satisfied with the way it turned out - clean, simple, to the point. That works for me and for my style.

And whew, check out that short, curly hair I was sporting along with blue eyeshadow and out of control eyebrows! Can we say the 80s, baby?

Long story short, I don't hate this layout at all. Actually, I kind of love it. It's simple enough that it doesn't feel terribly dated, at least until you look at that ancient picture. These days, I would handwrite my journaling and add clusters of embellishments, but I'm happy with this page because it still looks like my work to me.

Tell me - do you have any layouts you've made of yourself in the awkward 'tween years? I want to see them!

  1. I haven't scrapped anything from my tween years, but I don't remember that time in my life very fondly. I might approach it from the pop culture aspect or something. Your journaling and insight is poignant. I have a tentatively smiling 12-year-old girl of my very own right now and boy, do I ever want to help her love herself!

  2. Do you happen to remember the font you used to type this? It looks exactly like the printer's type alpha stamps by Hero Arts, which are my absolute favorite. I use them on everything!
