Sharing a layout - "Little People"

Today's layout is one that I've been meaning to make for a long time. I've talked about my childhood love of the Little People and Weebles brand playthings before, but I never made the time to actually make the layout until now.

If you're someone who follows scrapbooking trends, then you know that the white cardstock background has been trendy for a while now. I've been a bit resistant to it, I have to say. Now that I've actually made a layout on a bright, white background, it's much easier for me to see the attraction of it. There's something so clean and crisp about the way the other colors of patterned papers and photos pop against this stark background. I can't help but love it a little. Shh! I don't like to follow trends blindly, but this happens to be a good one.

I used some 6 X 6 paper pads to gather my patterned paper for this layout and had such fun picking out primarily colors with graphic, bold prints. I used some ancient Jenni Bowlin sticker letters on the title because I needed something bold enough to stand out against the heart background. I think it worked out really well.

I pulled all three of these images from a Google search because I don't have any of my old Little People playthings anymore. These images were the ones that printed most crisply and were a good representation of the toys that I owned. I want to do more of this when I scrapbook future stories of my childhood. IF you like to read journaling closely, this photo should allow you to do that as well. Honestly, I could've written much more about this topic, but I think I shared what was most important to the story in the space I had allotted. As usual, I used a cutapart card to write my journaling; I think this one was from a collection by Simple Stories.

The repeated heart elements are supposed to remind you that I love Little People and were a nice way to incorporate some color into white space on the photos.

And here's the final layout; I have to say it's one of my favorite ones that I've made in a long time. That, in and of itself, is a reason to cheer. How much more awesome is it that I told an important memory from my childhood?! Woot! Woot!

  1. Ugh - I figured out how I keep losing my posts. I am hitting "log out" instead of post. Anyway, love love love your layout and your memories of Little People. Reminds me that I need to take a photo of my collection of Little People I've gathered from resale shops and vintage/antique stores. I have some that have wooden bodies and some that are plastic. I'm about 10 years older than you Tiffany so my memories are of my children and their play sets with little people. I know I personally have purchased THREE of the farm sets - 2 for my children and another as a gift. TFS!
