Sharing a layout - The Man in Black

Here's a fun layout I made last week using a picture that I really love.

I'm not sure where these pleated embellishments came from, but I think they fit this layout really well.

In retrospect, maybe I should have blocked the title with a solid piece of cardstock. I guess I could always go back and do that, but I sort of like the blended textures and patterns in person. For now, I'm leaving it the way it is. And I felt so good about using some of those older Basic Grey chipboard letters!

I wrote the journaling on some cutapart labels that I had lying around - maybe these were from Little Bee? I should do a better job of sharing the products I use, but I forget to take notes because I'm too busy making the page. Oops!

I thought the flair was perf for this layout since it brought in a bit of the green from the buildings in the patterned paper. I also liked the combo of the biggest fan label and the gold heart. This page is all about being a fangirl, I guess. :)

And here's one more look at the final project.

I think I really love this photo because it has such a big city vibe to it. Because of the large mural behind me and my black dress, it almost feels as if it's shot in black and white even when it wasn't. This allowed me to bring in whatever colors and textures I wanted for the page design. I went with the houses print (Studio Calico, maybe?) because I thought it evoked that big city feel and went along with the whole Nashville vibe. The patterned paper I used was all from the same line, so that helped me make sure everything worked together. The washi tape was from my Cocoa Daisy January 'dori kit.

Thanks for stopping by to take a look!

  1. Great photo, and that background paper is perfect! I always have trouble with such busy patterns.

    1. I struggle with busy patterns too, but I'm working on it. I'm glad this one seemed to work so well.

    1. I appreciate your comment -> if I could be described as chic often, then I'd be thrilled. Haha! I'm also glad you think that the design is clean even with the busy papers. That was my goal!
