Sharing a layout - Hello Florence

I'm really missing travel right now, so the most recent layouts I've made all seem to be about places I've visited. Come take a look at the layout I recently made about my trips to Florence.  Just so you know, Florence really is one of my favorite cities in the world. There's something magical about it that's hard to put into words. Since I've visited with school groups in the past, we generally stay in a small town about a half hour outside of Florence called Montecatini. I love it too, but I always get 'all the feels' when the bus parks in Florence and we make the trek toward the Pontevecchio. Aaahhh!

This photo zeroes in on the embellishment grouping I added to the right of my title block. I cut these labels out individually and wrote descriptions on them for some visual interest. I also pulled an old piece of flair from my stash that I thought matched the yellows very well. On the right of the main photo, you can see that I repeated those labels with the handwriting as well as some wood veneer clouds for a playful element.

The top right hand corner needed a little something to break up that expanse of navy cardstock, so I went with an older Fancy Pants tag and a new, puffy, camera sticker.

I repeated the wood veneer element on the top left of my title/journaling card to balance the page and to serve as a kind of handle for pulling out the card to read. You can't see it here, but I also added a couple of wood veneer elements to the bottom center of the layout to tie them in across the whole page.

You can see the entire title block and photo a little better in this pic.

This first photos shows the way I incorporated my journaling onto a PL card that also houses the title of the page. I'm kind of into that right now - combining elements in ways you might not initially expect. This particular layout isn't about a particular trip or event; rather, it's about the feeling I get when I visit Florence and my favorite, ridiculously simple thing to do there.

And here's the finished layout! It's pretty simple in design, but I'm really happy with it. The mix of patterned papers is fun and bright. And let's be honest - when else am I ever going to use the paper with giant lemons on it?

Ciao, bellas!
