Throwback Thursday - sharing an old layout "Perspective"

This week, I'm featuring a super simple layout for Throwback Thursday that I made in 2010. I remember that I'd had this piece of paper forever before I finally decided to use it. I'd been drawn to the graphic nature of the tree on the left, and I also really liked the weight and color of this particular kraft page. I found it really difficult to imagine how I might use it, so that's what kept it in my drawer for so long.

I eventually chose to showcase the tree as the main decorative element by using it with a single photo. I'm sure I printed it in 4 X 6, but it looks as if I might have trimmed that down a bit. The photos itself cracks me up because I'm not used to myself with shorter hair. I like it, but it doesn't really feel like me - lol. Does anyone else experience that feeling when looking back at old photos? When I see this, I'm like, "who is that lady in short hair?" and "wow, my teeth look really white" and "I still have those glasses" and "whew, my eyebrows are too light" and "gee, I didn't have as many wrinkles then." But I'm probably the only person on the planet who analyzes things like that to a ridiculous amount.

Along the right hand side of the page, I stacked a series of journaling spots and wrote on each one. I recall that I felt like I needed to balance that large, vertical tree on the left with something of equal visual weight on the right. The ribbon I used creates the vertical line on which the journaling spots rest.

And that's it - talk about a super simple layout! What I really like is that my journaling is honest and raw, and I think that matches the basic design of the page as well. It might drive some of you nuts to notice that I don't really have a title on this page, but I've mentioned before that I don't think every page absolutely needs a title. Don't turn me in to the scrapbooking police, okay? Haha! Have you made a layout about a difficult time in your life or about a changing perspective on something? If not, I challenge you to do so.
