!0 Items on my Thanksgiving To-Do List

How many of y'all already have started your Thanksgiving to-do list? I mean, it's really only 10 days away at this point. I bet many of you cook a big meal for a large group or you travel significantly to visit family. I don't do either of those things, but I do have some items on my T'giving list already. Take a look:

1. Decide on the dishes I'll take to my bestie's gathering at lunchtime on T'giving and to a family gathering for dinner on T'giving. I've been given free reign on what to bring, so my brain is swimming with options. I'm leaning toward a broccoli and wild rice casserole for the family gathering because Kelsey specifically requested I bring a vegetarian dish with either broccoli or green beans. For the bestie's house, I'll likely have to get a bit more creative. Not only is it a big crowd, but they expect unique recipes from me for some reason.

2. Make a concerted effort to take both candid and posed holiday shots at each gathering I attend.

3. Decide what to wear to each holiday gathering and coordinate with Kelsey and Jake some for photo ops.

4. Go to the grocery for T'giving on Monday, 11/23. That's early enough that all of the products I need should still be there AND I can only hope it will be less crowded than if I went over the weekend. Fingers crossed!

5. Order a turkey breast from Heavenly Ham for the Saturday after T'giving. We'll have a small family gathering, and I'll use it to make turkey rolls. Since Kelsey is a vegetarian, we won't need much turkey for just 3 or 4 of us.

6. Decide on the menu for our family gathering and go back to the grocery for those supplies on Friday after T'giving.

7. Cheer on the Purples at the state quarterfinal game on Friday night of T'giving week - assuming we're still in the running for the title, that is. I believe!

8. Host Kelsey and Jake and the fella and his kiddo for a small, appetizer-focused T'giving celebration at my house on Saturday night.

9. Scout out the major sales in the newspaper on Wednesday evening and go shopping online over the holiday weekend. There isn't any part of me that wants to get out in that holiday shopping mess. Shiver!

10. Hold a holiday/engagement photo shoot with Kelsey and Jake over the holiday weekend. Maybe I can get Kelsey to shoot a few pics of the fella and me as well.

So, yeah, I have a manageable to-do list when it comes to the Thanksgiving holiday. I'm going to really work on slowing down and just enjoying this holiday without any pressure. What about you? How are things looking for your holiday celebration? What do you look forward to and what do you dread? I'd love to hear about it.

Gobble! Gobble!

  1. In recent years we have been hosting Thanksgiving at our house: my husband, daughter, parents, sisters, nephew, nieces. This year, my husband's aunt has invited us to the big gathering at her home; she says it's the last time she's going to host and really wants us there. So we'll be there Thursday and at my Mom's house Friday. So my wardrobe choices better include forgiving pants. :-) I like hosting, but I'm a bit giddy at the idea of taking a year off from it.

  2. We have lunch with my family and dinner with my husbands family. I need to make a list today! Then the weekend will be spent putting the Christmas decorations up.
