Handmade Christmas decor?

Do you make handmade decor for Christmas, either for yourself or to give as gifts? I came across these photos that I snagged online sometime last year and found myself wondering if it might be worth it to give some of them a try. These are apparently ornaments that caught my eye in an article I was reading on iVillage, and I think I probably realized that I already had most of the supplies.

Of course, I never actually made any of them. Now, I'm trying to decide if I really want to give it a shot or just go out and buy what I like in the coming season. Where do you stand on making versus buying? Why?

  1. I always think I'm going to make some and even occasionally buy the supples like the clear ornaments, but it never seems to happen. I think because I'm not really in Christmas mode until the first of December, and that coincides with putting my tree up; crafting ornaments for it after that seems too late. However, I did manage to make one of those little table lanterns last year using the Tim Holtz die. Which reminds me I thought about making a few more to give as gifts... And speaking of Tim Holtz, I miss his Christmas tags. Over the years I made a couple dozen which do go up on my wall as decoration every year.

  6. Cute!! I always make homemade hostess gifts for an annual Christmas party. These are some good ideas. I bought clear ornaments 3 or 4 years ago and have yet to do anything with them. You have got me thinking!!!
