Sharing a layout - So Lovely

When I worked in my studio Monday night, I was still desperate for some spring like colors and themes. As a result, I decided to make a layout that focused on some snapshots I grabbed from Kelsey's Facebook page from her dance recital last spring. You might remember that she teaches dance at a local studio and is a dance major at WKU.

There were three photos that I wanted to include on this layout, so I started by looking for inspiration online. One was full size, and the other two needed to be cropped a bit. It's incredibly hard to find single page layouts that include 3 almost full-size photos, so I ended up abandoning my online search for a scraplift and just played.

This top photo is an overview of the top right hand side of the layout. It includes one of my tickets from the show, several layered embellishments, and a journaling block. I'm not sure who makes the paper I used, but I used a Jenni Bowlin rubon, some Dear Lizzy stickers, some random enamel dots I found lying around, and a tag from AC.

Traveling down the right hand side of the layout, you can see another journaling spot, a piece of flair, more dots, more Dear Lizzy stickers, a Jillibean Soup label, and a random quote strip. I covered it all up with a clear acrylic star to reinforce the theme of the dance teachers helping their kids be stars and to tie all of those embellishments together. I used a little bit of tape underneath the flair piece and the staples to adhere the star to the page. I grouped the circles and the rectangles and the dots in groups of three in hopes of creating  a cohesive design element.

On the top left photo, I used a Heidi Swapp acrylic stamp to put a message in the white space and drew attention to it with the stapled tag and enamel dot.

Here's another closeup of the star element.

Ta-daaa! Here's the finished layout as a whole. I'm really happy with the results of this layout even though the pics themselves are not the best. It tells an important story of the behind-the-scenes moments at Kelsey's last dance recital.

Are you already working on spring-themed layouts? I'd love to hear about them. :)

  3. I love the acrylic star and the stamping on the photo! The picture of your daughter with her student is precious. I haven't done any spring or summer layouts lately, but did recently scrap last Halloween. Loved using/seeing the warm saturated colors.
