Sleigh Ride

The fella had a great idea Saturday night. After dinner, we headed to a local farm that he'd seen advertise sleigh rides for the holiday season. For $5, part of which went to charity, we were able to take a sleigh ride and look at light displays as well as check out the barn and take pics. I think that was a pretty good deal. :)

 Isn't this antique sleigh gorgeous? We had the head elf take some pics of us in it, but they're so terrible that I refuse to share them here. I had on my warmest coat since it was about 34 degrees, and I look like some overgrown sherpa in it. Note to self - never wear that coat again. It helped keep me warm, but I am horrified at the pics of myself in it. Y'all have all been there before, right? Can I get an amen?

Here's the fella looking quite debonair with one of the horses in the barn. He can rock the beanie quite well; I look like a demented elf in a beanie. You have been warned.

The bonfire felt lovely when we gathered 'round it. I didn't roast any marshmallows or drink any hot chocolate since I was still full from dinner, but they looked yummy.

This horse must have been part reindeer. He really wanted a snack, but we came unprepared. :(

 The light show was definitely something that was a work in progress. Right now, the lights are a little sparse and sometimes a bit hokey, albeit in a charming way. This is the first year the farm has offered this activity, so I'm sure it will continue to grow/expand. The owner gave us details about local businesses who had donated these arrangements of lights, and it really does sound like a community effort. How cool is that! I look forward to seeing how this grows over the years. :)

Don't get me wrong, I don't love being cold. But this sleigh ride experience was totally worth it! It was romantic and sweet and small town charming and countrified and nostalgic all rolled into one. I definitely enjoyed it and can't wait to go back again next year. How awesome is the fella for finding this for us to do and arranging it?!
