Sharing a layout - Love

Y'all prob already know that I love my mini-dachshund, Lowder. He's already 'starred' in several of my layouts. After Tracie snagged us some great Dear Lizzy patterned paper in an 8.5 X 11 paper pack at Michael's, I knew I wanted to play with that paper some. These pics of Lowder-dog seemed to be the perfect fit. I started with a 4 X 6 photo and then decided to crop a couple of other pics to 3 X 3 to use with it in a grouping.

I trimmed some Studio Calico red woodgrain paper trim the photo grouping; I thought it added some much needed color to the layout overall and picked up the red in the PL card that I chose to use as the title treatment. I really like the combination of red and aqua as a nice foil to the subtle gray and khaki in the paper I chose.

As I try to do often, I tried to create a balanced layout with my embellishment placement. The Elle's Studio flag at the top right balances the journaling strip at the bottom left, while the title card and Dear Lizzy circle embellishment create some weight on the right side of the page to balance the heavier pictures on the left. I popped up the title card to add a bit of texture/depth. In retrospect, I might have switched the photo grouping to the right hand side of the page and flipped the embellishments, but it doesn't bother me enough to redo it.

Here's a more closeup look at the journaling in case you'd like to read it.

I can't wait to play around with more of this Dear Lizzy paper; while it's just one-sided paper, it is a nice, thick weight. What are you looking forward to making this week? Are there any new papers or products that you're excited to work with soon? I'd love to hear about it. :)
