Reflecting on my Goals - First Quarter 2016

At the start of 2016, I made a list of goals in my Midori notebook about things I wanted to accomplish this year. I thought now, at the end of the first quarter, would be a good time to check in on my progress.

So, how am I doing?

1. Read 50 books
To date, I've finished 11 books and am roughly 3/4 of the way through #12. At this rate, I should be able to reach my goal of 50. Woot! Woot!

2. Spend a month in Spain
My flights are reserved, and my flat has been booked on Airbnb. Spain, here I come!

3. De-clutter and organize the bonus room
Nope, haven't even started. I don't want to start. It sounds horrible. Wonder if I can hire that out? Hahaha!

4. Revise my first novel
Not going to happen - I've decided that I don't care enough about this book to revise it. Instead, I'd like to try writing something else. I'm giving myself permission to delete this from my list.

5. Spend more creative time
Some weeks, I'm able to accomplish this. Other times, it's days before I spend any time in my studio because I just don't have the energy to create. Even when I have time, I don't always feel that creative mojo. This is def a work in progress for me.

6. Save more money
Nope, I'm not doing a very good job of this either, unfortunately. I certainly need to buckle down and make better choices as I prepare for my trip to Spain. It's just so hard to be disciplined...

7. Manage job stress more effectively
I'd say this is working with mixed results too. February was a hard month for me at work, as it often is. March was better, and I found a kind of equilibrium that I plan to work to maintain. There are a lot of changes happening at work right now, so managing my job stress will likely continue to be a challenge. I really like my job more when I do manage the stress better, so that's a strong motivation.

  2. Great way to stay on track and see if your goals are the same is to revisit them. Love how you've given yourself permission to change what you don't care about and continue to strive in other areas.
