Madrid, Baby!

That's right, blogger friends, my plan this year is to spend a month in Madrid, Spain.

If you've been, I'd love to hear what you loved or hated. Where did you stay? What did you visit? Where did you eat? Tell me everything you know!

If you know anyone who lives in or near Madrid, please share my contact info with them. I'd love to connect with podcast listeners or blog readers or fellow crafters. Heck, I'd love to connect with anyone local to the area.

If you'll be traveling vicariously with me this summer, what kinds of things would you like me to share about my Madrid experience? (For those of you who followed me in Paris last summer, I'm sure you have some opinions and preferences.)

Right now, task #1 is to locate and reserve a flat to rent for the month. I'm busy scouring possible properties and hoping to make a reservation by the end of the month. Wish me luck!

  2. Well, I've only been to Madrid once and that was for work a few years ago. All I can remember was that the weather was really hot - much, much hotter than anything you could experience in Paris. You have been warned! :-) But it's a really exciting plan, and I think you can do day trips to places like Toledo nearby.

    1. Haha - I'll definitely be renting a flat with a/c. I learned my lesson after melting in that Paris heat wave last summer. :)

  3. Good luck on your hunt. Hoping for AC this trip? I really enjoyed ready your Paris blog updates. They read kind of like a day/week in the life. It was fun to hear what you were doing and seeing. I really enjoyed the what I learned or the odd thing that happened today type stuff. I also think it's totally cool that you travel alone. I do that in eleven Midwest states for my job and am frequently amazed at people who say things like how can you do that. I purposely fly in early or out late so I can check out local stuff. Enjoy the planning.

    1. Yes! I was so afraid before I took my trip to Paris solo. Once I arrived and settled in, though, I quickly realized it was the absolute best way to go. Getting to choose everything I wanted every day is my kind of living - lol. I can only hope that Madrid will be just as great. And, yes, I will be getting a flat with a/c for sure.

  4. Never made it as far north as Madrid but traveled mostly in southern Spain near the Costa Del Sol area. Beautiful....a must see! Alhambra, Malaga, Marbella and Gibraltar (not really Spain) were some of the highlights.

    1. I plan on sticking to Madrid and cities within a couple of hours by train, but one day I'll make it to the southern edge.

  5. While I've never been to Spain, my father spent many weeks there for work. He really enjoyed the food and the lifestyle was so much more laid back. Looking forward to peeking over your shoulder through your blog posts while you are there. I'm interested in knowing if they have any scrapbooking stores as we would know them here in the states?

    1. If your dad is still able, I'd love to hear any tips or favorites from his experiences in Spain. I'm still on the lookout for inside information. :) I've done a few searches, and I think there are some scrapbooking stores. Yay!

    1. I am so glad to hear that! Sometimes, I worried that I was boring people with the tidbits and mundane experiences mixed in with all the amazing places I visited. It's good to hear that several of you plan to follow along with this trip too!
