Hi Tiffany, I'm a fan of scrapgals, as well as your blog and just wanted to tell you about some mystery novels set in late nineteenth-century Paris. The author is Claude Izner (which is actually a pen name for 2 sisters), and their novels center around a rare bookstore and the book seller, Victor Legris, who decides to start investigating a murder at the Eiffel Tower. There are several in the series and Paris itself, as well as historical events, are always a part of the story. One of the books even involves a disappearance at the Père-Lachaise cemetery. I'm not sure if you're a series mystery novel kind of girl, but it seems that you would enjoy the setting, and the stories are fun and interesting if anything. I enjoyed reading them, after I stumbled upon the first one, I decided to read them all. - Just wanted to pass it on - and also to say thanks, I love listening to the podcast, and it was fun following along with your summer in Paris via your blog and instagram. ReplyDeleteReading: Just finished Our Souls at Night by Kent Haruf, which is the first thing I've ever read by that author. It was short and spare, almost reminding me a bit of Hemingway, but lovely and poignant (and less opaque than Hemingway.)
