Are you telling the truth?

Are you telling the truth? Specifically, are you including your reality in your scrapbooking? I mean the down and dirty, nitty-gritty reality of everyday life -- or are you just glossing over the things that aren't perfect in search of a matching, Stepford-like existence to anyone who might read your scrapbooks? Sometimes it's hard to find the balance between the perfect existence we'd love to have and the not so perfect reality of our lives. This is especially true when it comes to telling our stories in our scrapbooks. This week, Tracie and I discuss these very issues in our newest episode of the ScrapGals podcast. I hope you'll listen and weigh in with your opinions here or at our website.

To get the week started, I thought I'd share a couple of past layouts that offer glimpses into my less-than-perfect-but-still-awesome existence. I plan to make a couple more honest/revealing layouts this week and share them with you, but this at least shows you some ways I've tried to be brutally honest up to this point.

Just remember: life doesn't have to be perfect to be amazing; I want my scrapbooks to reflect that. Where do you stand?

  3. gulp.. I am choking up!! I have made honest pages like this.. about "Playing House" waiting for the phone to ring and all the messy things in between!! I wasnt going to at first , but then I look back and KNOW this is just an much an important and defining part of my life as the good parts too!! For me it still feels raw to look at those honest pages, but I am so glad that I made them!! Thanks so much for sharing these Tiffany xx

  4. I have to say this! Liz Kartchner's photos are usually taken by a pro photog or her husband, who is a pro videographer with some skills and amazing equipment- self portraits are so much harder! You are beautiful too-and I am sure as much of an uber mom!

  6. These layouts are great! Haven't we all been there! I really like seeming some less than perfect moments in a life. Sounds silly, but wouldn't it be great to see a layout made by your grandma that talks about how her day to day life can be just plain hard. Or someone making it through a difficult time in their life. I suffer from depression and think I might make a layout on it. I think it is important to show future generations that a full life is one that has its ups and downs. By acknowledging the downs, we are showing what made the ups so wonderful. That getting through those tough times in life is possible and we all share that. Thanks so much for posting these.
