Monday check-in - aka status update

It's a Monday morning, so I thought I'd take the opportunity to do a little check-in with y'all about the happenings in my life. Think of it as a status update if you will. I am...

Battling a cold - thought it was allergies but have decided I have a good, old-fashioned, run of the mill, bad cold. I feel slightly puny but am definitely not falling apart just yet. I'll be pushing the vitamine C, the zinc, and juice/fruit for the next few days to make sure this bad boy doesn't linger too long.

In dire need of a manicure. My shellac has grown out terribly to the point that I look a bit like a ratchet Edward Scissorhands with purple nail polish. I should've taken care of that on Friday before I started feeling bad, but I didn't. It's actually on my 'to-do' list for this afternoon.

Excited about reading a book that one of my friends recommended - Jitterbug Perfume by Tom Robbins. Widener, who traveled to Europe with me this past summer, told me about it at work on Thursday. I downloaded it this weekend and plan to read it this week. I would have already started it, but I didn't want my puny self to undervalue the book. Hey, maybe I'm getting better at delayed gratification...or not...

Obsessed with the television series The 4400 on Netflix. My daughter recommended it, and I'm totally enjoying it. This weekend, I watched like 2 entire seasons. It's a science fiction series a la X Files meets Criminal Minds meets Heroes - cool stuff.

Planning several potential trips - a student trip to Australia and New Zealand next summer, a student trip to southern Europe in summer 2016, and an adults only trip to Europe next summer. It's exciting and exhilarating and nervewracking and intimidating and thrilling all at the same time. If you're an adult (over 21) who'd like to visit Europe with a group, feel free to email me at lowdertiff@gmail.com or to post here in the comments for additional details.

Knee-deep in my online class that I teach. Right now, I have 22 students registered which means I need to make really good choices about how I manage my time. Between emails and grading and phone conferences and paperwork, I've got my hands full. Hopefully, it'll all begin to even out soon; the beginning of the semester is always pretty challenging. Good organization and time management are the key.  Y'all know that's a struggle for me sometimes.

Feeling the need to go to Mass more regularly. Since I got back from Europe, I've been an utter failure as a Catholic. Other things just seem to get in the way every weekend. Must work on my commitment to my faith.

In the mood to organize my life physically, at least hypothetically. (Who knows if I'll actually get it done, but I'd really like to finish these projects.) There are donations that I need to make to Goodwill; there is trash to dispose of; there are oodles of things to corral and organize here at home. Specifically, I'd really like to target my closets, the two guest rooms, and my 'bonus' storage room.

These are just a few of the things that are part of my current status update. What's going on in your life right now?
