Guest designer at Jenni Bowlin Studio - Project #3

I love this photo of Kelsey, so I knew I wanted to use it on one of the layouts this week, and I liked how the turquoise papers picked up the print in her shirt. I didn't interpret the ticket paper literally and used it on this layout even though it doesn't have anything to do with tickets or a performance or anything.

I started by playing around with the combinations of papers, trying to figure out how much of each pattern I wanted to use. Right away, I knew I wanted the turquoise dot to be the grounding for the photo block and that I wanted to incorporate the Love diecut heart somehow into the title.

I moved stuff around and let it live in various configurations as I worked.

Once I decided on the paper, I started playing around a bit with embellishments. I was itching to use some of Jenni Bowlin's gold rubons, and I thought they might look nice as embellishments on the wooden frame pieces. I didn't have any small pics printed to treat those like true frames, so I thought I could envision them as art frames instead. I also wanted to pull in the doilies somehow because those colors are represented in Kelsey's blouse in the pic.

Here's a closeup of one of the wooden frames with a rubon and sequins.

And here's what I decided to do for the title. The scattering of the sequins really was 'out of the box' for me, but I'm happy with the final result.

More closeups of the wooden frames and title treatment...

I didn't really have anything to say about this photo other than the title treatment, so I didn't force myself to do journaling. I don't often leave journaling off of a layout, but there was no story that accompanied this photo. I just loved it because it was cute.

The final layout looks like this:

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I'll be sharing projects the rest of this week, so be sure to visit again. :)

  1. I love how you put the rub-ons on the wood squares. That would never have occurred to me!
