Videos from Budapest, Vienna, and Prague

I've been posting videos about my experiences in the European cities I've been visiting since my trip with students ended. If you haven't checked out what I had to say about Budapest, Vienna, and Prague, I hope you'll click the links here and watch/listen. There are a few funny stories and maybe an insight or two. :)

(And on a side note, why does YouTube always choose the weirdest facial clip of me for the video preview? I mean, these are hilarious!)

I'll be checking in with videos from other cities soon!

  1. It makes me sad to hear this about Prague! It's high on my wish list of places to visit. I've never really experienced rude locals overseas, not even in France (which is supposedly known for rudeness).

  4. Tiffany! How exciting! I loved hearing about your adventures. I love traveling in Europe and it seems just the fact of being a tourist in a new country can create some exciting stories. Hearing your story makes me think of all the ones we have experiences. There are between 4-6 of us women who travel every year together. I LOVE the adventures. Just last September we went to Paris (1st time) rented a van and drove Thru the French Alps on our way to Venice to spend the next 18 or so days in Italy. From dog poop on the streets of Paris to a toilet-less women's restroom on the highway from point A to B and NOT being able to put the Van in reverse (haHa) we had our own adventures! But when I hit Italy and stopped at what we know to be in our country a convenience store and I saw the coffee bar!! OMG I wanted to drop to my knees and kiss the ground! OH how I missed the Italian coffee!!! It is the simple stories such as the ones you shared that make the BEST stores and adventures!!! I could write a short story at least! (HaHa)... you made me recall all those feelings you described--the Wanderlust you feel when you are in a truly different place...that Tingle through your body when you are pulled to go and explore!! This year it's down back to the Caribbean and next year Greece! I look forward to hearing more about YOUR adventures!! Thanks for sharing!!

  5. Tiffany, I'm SO bummed that you had some rude experiences in Prague. That is where I got married and I love it there. I never, ever had a negative experience with anyone, and my husband and I were there for two whole weeks around the wedding. Now, that was back in 2008, before immigration and refugee issues, so perhaps they, like many EU countries unfortunately, have gotten a bit more shuttered against foreigners.

Was it unusually hot? I don't think they're used to that, hah!

If I were you, I'd write a bad review of that tour company and specifically that tour guide so that they know how rude he was. (I suspect he was from Slovakia, the other half of the former Czechoslovakia). I'm not saying that Slovaks are rude, but Czechs and Slovaks often cross the border to work/live as the languages (Czech and Slovak) and cultures are quite similar.

I really appreciate your open mind and spirit for travel. It feels like the US is closing in on itself these days, and we really need more adventurous people like you to travel, experience other cultures, make an effort to learn other languages, and get to know people from different walks of life. That is how you learn to accept others for who they are, and appreciate our differences. So GO YOU GIRL! :)

I've been to all three places you videoed about so you brought back some really warm memories...and a bad itch for October to come when I jet off to Eastern Europe!
