Throwback Thursday - I was a dancer

A couple of weeks ago, one of my longtime friends texted me this photo. Her dad had been cleaning out some old photos in the family horse barn (seriously!) and found this photo of us as little girls. Amy and I were thick as thieves 1st through 8th grade and were friendly, if not close, in high school. We spent the night with each other regularly; we went to all the same events together; apparently, we also took dance lessons together. I didn't remember that until she sent me this picture.

I sort of remember this recital. I think we were about 7 years old, or 2nd graders here, and the song we danced to for this number was "Putting on the Ritz." It was a tap number, and I absolutely loved my top hat. In case you can't tell, I'm the one in the top middle with huge glasses. Amy is next to me on the right. A couple of the other little girls are familiar to me, but I'm not sure who they are. We danced at Van Meter Auditorium on Western Kentucky University's campus, and my mom and stepdad brought me roses after my performance. What a fun memory! I do plan to document it at some point. I asked Amy to be sure she sent me any other photos she might find of me from our childhood. For whatever reason, I just don't have many of them. And I have almost none of me with my friends. That makes this photo even more of a treasure to me.

That's show business, folks!
