NaNoWriMo Update #2

This is my writing face - note the glare of the keyboard in my rather nerdish glasses. Lol!

When have I been writing?  During my planning period, at home in the evenings, and on the weekends. I don't write every day, but I try to write at least 1000 words per sitting. That means that I need to block off at least an hour to work at a time. If I'm really in the groove, I can write 1000-1200 words in an hour (I do type pretty quickly); if I'm struggling, I might only get 500 words written in an hour.

Where have I been writing? At my desk at school or at home in my rocking chair or on the chaise lounge in my living room. I need to be comfortable to write but not too comfortable or I could fall asleep.

What am I writing?  Well, I'm not sure what genre my book fits best. Sometimes I think it's a romance or chick lit, and other times I think it's just mainstream fiction. Maybe I'll know for sure by the end of the process.

I'm writing this post on Sunday 11/16, right at midway through the month, and I'm currently at 19,676 words officially for NaNoWriMo. I've actually written a total of 41,676 words for my book. (I started a couple of weeks before the month began, so I'm not counting the 22,000 words I wrote during that time.)  What does this mean? Well, a book is roughly 70,000 words or more. That means I'm more than halfway there. Woot! Woot!

Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go work on my book a little bit now.  Peace out, peeps!

  1. Part of me always wanted to be a writer but I have no idea how to go about it.
