My 10 fave apps right now

Maybe you're like me and totally addicted to your cell phone, that miraculous little computer in your pocket. If so, then you're probably on the market for apps that can be fun and make your life easier too. In the spirit of that, I thought I'd share with you my top 10 fave apps right now. I am 'Team Apple,' but I think all of these are available on the android and windows marketplace as well.

Do you like games? I'm not much of a gamer, but I do love word and trivia games. Words with friends, QuizUp, and Ruzzle are my faves to play. Of these, my experience with QuizUp is the most limited, but I can already tell that it's addictive fun. If you like trivia, I especially recommend it.

Y'all know how much I love selfies, right? These two apps enable me to take selfies without always using the extended arm strategy. Check out CamMe and TimerCam when you have the chance. I don't think you'll regret it. They've definitely amped up my selfie game.

Speaking of photos, I back up all of my photos with Picasa web albums which was bought by Google in the last year or so. (I think I pay about $20 a year for 15 gigs of storage.) If you aren't already storing your photos on an online server, this is an easy one to manage. I use it on my iphone, ipad, and laptop without any trouble integrating the various platforms and uploads. It's a great way to make sure your photos are safe and aren't clogging up your device memory/space.

Ever hear a song on the radio and want to know its name or artist so you can download it later? Shazam is the perfect app for that. It seems like I use Shazam a few times a week at least, and I'm not even in the car that much. Likewise, I recommend Fandango if you need to decide which movie to see or just want to find out what times theaters in your area are showing a particular film. You can also purchase tickets using the app if you'd like.

Y'all know how much I love to travel. If you find yourself traveling abroad, then Viber is a great app to use to stay in touch with your peeps back home. It allows both calls and texts in a web-based format and was VERY reliable when I used it during my European travel this past summer. I actually prefer it to some of the other web-based phone services that are available.

Here's one just for teachers. Edmodo is a great online format for communicating with students and sharing plans, assignments, alerts, etc. It's sort of like facebook for education. Since it's a closed format (password required to join a particular class), you don't have to worry about just anyone accessing your information. One of my favorite applications is that students can actually submit their assignments to me directly online without having to worry about a printed copy. Best of all - it's free!

Hopefully, you've seen a couple of apps on my list that you'd like to try. I'm pretty sure all of them are free in the App Store, but I'm not sure about the cost for other platforms. Happy apping! Lol!
